Thanks to Lt Col Bonk for gathering this information on OCP resources
Informational Slide Deck: OCP Wear Guide V2 (1)
Online Retailers:
OCP pants and shirts (hot weather or winter/all season) – Try Amazon and Propper. I purchased the Tru Spec all seasons on Amazon and the hot weather uniform from Vanguard. The Vanguard brand is Propper. You can’t go wrong with Propper. I’m happy with the True Spec as well. Be sure not to get the flame resistant or aircrew flight suit versions of the uniform – they are not authorized. See the slides for more info on the two authorized versions.
Fleece – note this is not the Polartec version – that one is about $30 more.
Coyote Watch Cap – I got this one, it seems to match in color fine. “Coyote” or “tan 499” seem to have variances in shades on these.
I also got a Condor one from CC Military Surplus (see below). That one is definitely a darker tan, more like a light brown.
Tactical Caps
Coyote Mesh back – BrigadeQM Mesh Tactical Cap with 2×2 Rank Loop – BrigadeQM
These particular versions have the 2×2 velcro on the front of the cap for officer grade insignia. Recommend if you don’t want to do your own sewing. The tactical cap on Vanguard or any other sellers I looked at do not come with this.
Patrol Cap – the one that came from Vanguard only has Velcro on the back. I haven’t found this in any other configuration anywhere. Brigade QM has hot weather and regular versions of these. It’s being recommended to sew the officer cloth grade on these anyway (see the attached presentation)
Boots
I have identified the Vanguard boots as this: Belleville Coyote Spearpoint 8″ Hot Weather Tactical Boot. It’s on Brigade for $10 less:
The Belleville insulated/waterproof boots I got are: Belleville Khyber 8″ Waterproof Insulated Multi-Terrain Boot TR550WPINS – BrigadeQM
You can find these many places online. I don’t know a lot about the other brands as I liked the look of the Belleville’s. I’ve worn both and they are comfortable so far.
Gen III ECWCS Level 7 Jackets
(yes, I know the one I got has the word “MultiCam” in the title, which apparently isn’t what we want, but it is OCP pattern and I can’t tell the difference)
A different option – https://ebay.us/m/WF3WtQ
As long as they are OCP pattern or Coyote brown and preferably Gen III, you are in reg. There is also a provision for the sage green Level 7 parka. Gen III will have the required Velcro for the CAP strip, name and rank. The Gortex only has the slip-on rank sleeve, which is authorized.
Suede Boot Care ideas
Other places you can look for items:
Amazon
Ebay
Galls
I also checked out CC Military Surplus in Maplewood and put together this list:
OCP pants and shirts: both styles (no pockets & slant pockets) in summer or all weather
~$70 (same as Vanguard)
Gen III Rothco Coyote Fleece
$60 ($54 on Amazon)
Coyote Watch Caps for winter:
Rothco $9
Condor $13
Fox $10
Propper brand OCP Patrol Cap & another unknown brand
$15 (Velcro is on the back)
These are in a section lining the wall of the front of the store on the clothing side.
Boot Socks
$5
There is a rack near the boots with tons of Condor Tactical OCP caps (both coyote mesh back and non-mesh), but some don’t look correct for us. There is a style of the tactical that has the Velcro on the back in the same spot as shown on Vanguard. Not sure if that even matters. But some of the tactical caps have a large Velcro section on the front of the hat, which I’m interpreting as not for us.
All are $19
They also have the 2×3 reverse color U.S. flag patches with Velcro.
All of the above are new items. There is a limited amount of used OCP uniforms as well.
